Don’t miss these Black Friday and Cyber Monday flight deals from Skyscanner. Oh, I also have some major life news…
I’m used to stalking my favorite websites like Target for post-Thanksgiving sales, but this year, my Black Friday and Cyber Monday will look much different. My family is foregoing big gifts (you’ll see why later in this post!), so instead, I plan to fill November 23 (Black Friday) through 27 (Travel Tuesday) with one thing: wanderlust.
Well, I guess two things technically – wanderlust and Skyscanner, because the latter affords the former. Skyscanner—a leading travel search engine—is compiling all of the best flight deals for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Travel Tuesday, and guys – they’re good. I mean, really good. Take a look:
Ch’ya. That’s why in my attempt to save money while traveling significantly more in 2019, I plan to spend my stuffing-detox days on Skyscanner.
Why, you may ask, am I saving money but traveling more in 2019? Ah yes. It’s time for that little life update. The one where I say (with more exclamation points than can fit on this page):
I quit my job to pursue my travel writing and filmmaking career full time!
Yes, you read that right. It’s happening. As of October, I’m officially self-employed (gah!) and giving this crazy world of travel entrepreneurship a go. I’ve been running my business, Stephanie Vermillion Studio, for quite some time now. SVS encompasses travel and lifestyle journalism; wedding, documentary and travel films; branded content; and some travel/ influencer curation work for a new startup trip-planning brand. And, of course, this very blog!
For a bit of backstory many of you know, this dream of launching my own travel and storytelling-focused business has been relentlessly following me for the past several years. It started in 2015 as I pondered limited vacation time while perched atop a balcony in Ronda, Spain. I realized it’s virtually impossible to get to really know a place in just five days, and I struggle deeply with surface-level-only travel.
From there, I tested the waters with travel blogging, journalism, travel films, wedding films … the list goes on. This amorphous accumulation of passion projects slowly took shape, and this October, I hit a breaking point right before my life-changing trip to Tanzania. With a move on the horizon and extremely close-to-home reminders of how short this life is, I decided to take the leap.
As in, working for myself. As in, traveling as often as I’d like (although, let’s be real here – travel still means work, and you better believe I’ll be working from the road to make ends meet!)
That’s why—with my newfound freedom yet tight budget—I’ll be scouring Skyscanner for flight deals on Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Travel Tuesday. While I won’t give away all of my travel secrets for 2019, let me just say a North African country may be on the horizon, and Skyscanner featured major deals for Emirates’ flights to this destination last Black Friday. I won’t even get started on the Norwegian $89 one-way to Europe fares that Skyscanner found. ALL THE POSSIBILITIES.
So, there you have it, guys. To those of you who’ve followed my journey this whole time, thank you! And to those new faces, welcome! This is just the start of some incredibly exciting things, and I’m thrilled to have all of you along for the big, (and thanks to Skyscanner!) budget-friendly adventures. You can follow along on my business website, www.stephanievermillionstudio.com, too!

Hi, Stephanie,
I just discovered your blog, and I love it! I would like to invite you to visit the Catskills again, and this time come to the Hobart, NY, the Book Village of the Catskills! It is a cute little village with five independent bookstores! I may be slightly prejudiced in favor of the village, since I am a resident and bookstore owner! You can learn more about Hobart Book Village here:
